Glitch Girl's Freedom Fortress Code Name: David - prologue
by Lightning Man

The wallet smacked Leonard in the face.

"Edwin J. Murphy," Glassman sneered in his German-tinged English. "Eddie Murphy. How clever, Schwartze."

Glassman slowly paced the small room, his heels clacking menacingly on the wood floor. Leonard followed Glassman with his eyes, his hands and legs tied to a chair. The two flunkies with automatic pistols kept their unwavering glance on Leonard. Leonard noticed that Glassman's pantcuffs rode well above the top of his shoes.

"I know you're a government agent, Mr. 'Murphy.'"

"And I know you're wearing high-waters."

"High-waters?" Glassman looked to the blond haired muscle on his left. Blondie shrugged his shoulders. He turned to the brunette. "Karl?"

"He is saying your trouser legs are too short."

Glassman raised an eyebrow. As he started to speak, there was a knock on the door. Karl went to the door and peeked through the fisheye lens.

He saw black. Then stars.

The door exploded in on itself. Karl rode the plank of wood like a backwards surfer into the wall. His gun flew out of his hands and landed at Leonard's feet. Leonard burst his bonds, grabbed the machine gun and turned it toward the blond, only to find a curly haired man in a white T-shirt, blue leggings, and blue boots with white trim beating the snot out of him. Leonard turned to Glassman just in time to see his butt going out the window. Leonard squeezed off a round, but Glassman's butt - and the rest of him - was gone.

Leonard turned the gun on Mr. Blue, who had a Star of David on his right breast. "Who are you?"

"A friend, Air Force. Put your costume on for a cover story and I'll explain later."

"Costume?"

"You are Fly Guy, and you won't like it if you have to explain to the Major why your cover is blown. Put on the suit."

Leonard stripped off his civvies and stuck them in the bag he carried for just this purpose. He then put on the gloves, hood, and cape to his Fly Guy costume, the one he wore under his street clothes for just the situation he was in.

"This is a drug deal gone bad," the curly haired man said while Fly Guy wiped his prints from the gun. "You stopped it with the help of another super hero who tracked the deal from his end in the Middle East."

"You are that super hero."

Mr. Blue winked. "Right. Code name: David."
