As a general rule, I will accept anything you send me as long as it fits in the Universe established by the game "Freedom Force". You can use existing characters or create new heroes and villains to populate your stories. You are also not limited to Patriot City but are free to make up new locations as needed. Content can be serious, humorous, or fall somewhere in between.
Unless otherwise specified by the creator, set in a modern or later setting, or just very "out there", all works will be considered part of the main continuity of the universe. This is to allow for a more fleshed-out, dynamic setting for everyone to play with. Later stories are classified "Time Streams" due to the possible potential conflict with sequels to the game. A master list of locations and characters and any additional notes that may become needed will be housed onsite, but is incomplete at this time. If you have questions, please contact the respective author or authors.
Anything prominently featuring a character or characters from an existing published comic book, television show, or like media that is NOT Freedom Force will not be considered for addition to the archives. There will be no "X-Men vs. Freedom Force" or "Batman meets Pinstripe". I do this because I want to emphasize people's own creation within the Freedom Force realm.
All characters are considered owned by their respective creators. This does not mean that other people can't use these characters, but unless the character has been declared free to use, permission should be acquired before using other people's creations. Outright stealing and plagiarism of other people's work will not be tolerated, PERIOD.
Content, as a general rule should be no more severe than a PG13 rating. I am relatively open minded, but as this is a public site, I have to have some standards. Gratuitous swearing, sexuality, and violence should be avoided. Scenes that are "borderline" will be dealt with case by case.
Because different people used different characters in the game, character participation in certain game related events will remain vague unless defined by the game. This is to allow for each players individual story without mucking with continuity much. Also for clarity sake, no custom characters participated in any missions, but can be aware that they happened.
All submissions should include the author's name (or whatever you want to be referred to as onsite) and a contact email. Also, if you know where your submission should go (Stories: Silver Age for example), please include that as well.
For stories and text based submissions, please send these as either basic HTML, regular text or Rich Text format. This is to make my life easier. To make my life easier still, please have run your work through a spell checker before submitting. It's just common sense. If you are in need of a text program with a spell checker, may I recommend TextPad. It's shareware and it's very VERY good. I wrote this entire site with it. If you use HTML, do not include any Javascript, Java, or DHTML. If you have image links that go with your story, please be sure to include them in your submission, which should be in the form of an all-inclusive ZIP file.
For artwork and image based submissions, please make sure your file is no larger than 500K. This is a bandwidth and storage issue. Please also include a thumbnail image if you can, no more than 100 X 100 pixels.
For game add-ons, please submit them in ZIP format, no file over 1MB, as I have limited space. Only game add-ons pertaining to stories and artwork already on this site will be considered. I will be limiting game add-ons to skins and hero files at this time. If you have something else (voice pack, mods, etc), I suggest contacting me first and we'll talk about it.
If you have any questions about any of these guidelines, please feel free to contact me.
