Damage control time...

First, I need to get this out of the way:

HAPPY APRIL FOOL’S DAY EVERYBODY!!!!

Second, my confession: I, Mea, also known as Mira, Mira_V4, and Marie, MADE UP the whole thing about WEP licencing my character for use in the V3D series. I want to make this perfectly clear, as I get the impression that not everyone read the ENTIRE press release, which contained the punchline. In short, simple terms...

THERE WAS NO DEAL BETWEEN WEP AND MYSELF, NOR HAS THERE EVER BEEN ANY SUCH DEAL.

The thing about a really good April Fool’s joke, I’ve discovered, is the groundwork needs to be laid some time before people suspect anything, and then pull the punchline on the big day. I got the idea for this little charade on Monday night and basically got things rolling as soon as I could. I tried to come up with an almost ideal yet still believable scenario and tried to present it as convincingly as possible. Believe me, no malice was intended, it was just a little trick, probably the most elaborate one I’ve ever pulled. I have to also thank WEP and especially Webbie: before I posted anything, I e-mailed them to inform them of the prank so that they wouldn’t think one of their posters had gone utterly mad. Webbie showed great humor by offering to help and I thank him for his post that added a little extra credibility to the whole thing. Again, a thanks to both of them for their patience and humor.

And to some degree, I’m taking this time to apologize to everyone about the deception; I almost ended the joke early after the notes of congratulations and support started showing up due to feelings of overwhelming guilt that I was deceiving everyone. As I said, no malice was meant by the joke (if anyone should be disappointed, it should be me, since my character’s no closer to any screen beyond this one) and all the well-wishing notes were so greatly appreciated that I started to feel bad about trying to deceive you all. Anyone who left a note in my guestbook about it, I can delete if for you upon request, if you would so like. Guys, you are really, really great, I only wish I had HAD such news to share with you, but I gotta continue pipe dreaming with the rest of you for now.

Finally, hopefully in the next day or two, I’ll have up two new stories for your reading pleasure, but right now, I’m going to worry about damage control. I’ll be keeping the press release up a few more days in case someone missed the punchline. I hope you all had a good April Fool’s, and I wish you the best.
